Growing Something for Generations: Osoyoos Forest Nursery

There are some projects where you get to see an idea grow from the ground up. In the case of the Osoyoos Forest Nursery, quite literally.

Our team at Amplify Consulting Inc. had the opportunity to work alongside the Osoyoos Forest Nursery team as they prepared to establish their identity, tell their story, and officially open their doors.

Located on Osoyoos Indian Band land within the Syilx Nation near Oliver, B.C., the Osoyoos Forest Nursery is a partnership between the Osoyoos Indian Band and K&C Silviculture Ltd. It brings together Indigenous leadership, decades of silviculture experience, and a shared commitment to sustainable forestry, environmental stewardship, and economic development.

The nursery began its first growing season in 2026 with approximately 3.6 million seedlings. At full operational capacity, it is designed to grow approximately 18.2 million seedlings every year, supporting reforestation and long-term forest renewal in British Columbia and beyond.

Building the Brand and Sharing the Story

Our work with the Osoyoos Forest Nursery started with developing a brand that reflected the vision for the nursery and the partnership behind it.

Our team in collaboration with Sandra Verhoeff of Signet Studios, developed the Osoyoos Forest Nursery logo and visual identity, followed by the design and development of its new website.

As the grand opening approached, we worked with the team to plan the communications and media relations for the event. This included developing the press release, coordinating the media invitation, and creating the community invitation, plus helping to ensure the press event on site went smoothly.

It was rewarding to see the brand, website, communications, and event come together, and to see so many people gather to celebrate the official opening. Pro Tip: hire a photographer. We work extensively with Tiffany Christianson of Tiffany Christianson Photography, who captures the day so there are photos for the press to utilize, plus photos to use for various communications assets in the future like websites or social media.

A Partnership Worth Celebrating

The Osoyoos Forest Nursery represents an important investment in forestry, economic development, employment, training, and the future of forest renewal.

Chief Clarence Louie and the Osoyoos Indian Band identified an opportunity to participate directly in forestry through seedling production and green economic development. K&C Silviculture brought more than 30 years of forest nursery experience, along with the expertise required to build and operate a nursery at this scale.

Peter Flett, Head of Operations for Nk’Mip Forestry, has also played an important role in bringing the vision forward and sharing what this opportunity can mean for the community and the future of forestry.

The project has also received support through the Government of Canada’s 2 Billion Trees program, helping increase local nursery capacity and support reforestation efforts.

Projects like this take a vision and then a lot of people with diverse expertise to make it all come together.

We want to recognize Chief Clarence Louie, Peter Flett, the Osoyoos Indian Band leadership and team, the K&C Silviculture team, Elders, community members, growers, contractors, suppliers, partners, and everyone who contributed their time, knowledge, expertise, and energy to bringing the Osoyoos Forest Nursery to life. Growing for Generations

One of the things I appreciate most about our work at Amplify is the opportunity to work alongside people who are building things that will have a lasting impact. Standing at the nursery and looking across rows and rows of seedlings, you get a sense of the scale of what is being created.

Millions of seedlings will leave this nursery each year. They will be planted across the landscape, grow into forests, and contribute to ecological, cultural, social, and economic benefits for generations to come.
