If you have Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or know someone with ADHD and live in British Columbia, we are inspired and excited by the work of the ADHD Advocacy Society of BC to ensure the services and supports needed and deserved are available.

Working with the Board of Directors of the Society, led by Board Chair Chantelle, was a fulfilling and wonderful opportunity to lead a stakeholder engagement project throughout the province of B.C., and boy did we all learn that by providing the opportunity for individuals and families to share their experiences, they will. Especially those who feel they’ve never had a voice, which was the case with this project.
Here's a brief overview of our activities, the challenges we helped the ADHD Advocacy Society of BC find solutions for, and the benefits it will bring to those who have ADHD or support family members who do.
Challenges:
The ADHD Advocacy Society of BC was looking to accomplish these key priorities:
Understand the challenges individuals and families with ADHD have in accessing supports and services.
Develop key themes to share with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) – the funder of the engagement work.
Determine the key areas of need of individuals and families with ADHD the Society can advocate for moving forward.
Solution:
Our team embarked on province-wide engagement project with the ADHD Advocacy Society of BC through a series of online and in-person engagement focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and providing an online survey. The response, in a word, was INCREDIBLE. Hundreds of individuals, families, support workers, counsellors, and many others participated to share where the gaps in supports and service are, and solutions to ensure people aren’t falling behind or through the gaps of the healthcare system in the province.
Results & Benefits:
The ADHD Advocacy Society of BC now has relevant and timely information from a variety of stakeholders throughout the province to bring forward to the MCFD to advocate on behalf of individuals and families. This insight and data, along with the Board’s expertise and experience, helps create credibility and builds the reputation of the Society to focus its efforts on what people are sharing are gaps and challenges.
Inspiration:
Oftentimes, organizations have a sense of the biggest challenges and gaps, but having critical conversations helps define and confirm “hunches” with key insight to ensure you’re on the right pathway. For us, we love to amplify the remarkable impact our clients are capable of. By helping the ADHD Advocacy Society of BC, we were able to help them confirm a clearer pathway forward for the Society to advocate well and give assurances to those with ADHD or supporting family members with ADHD, that there are good people doing important work to help close gaps in the supports and services needed.
Kudos from the ADHD Advocacy Society of BC
"We are a relatively new, small non-profit organization focused on equitable access to support for individuals with disabilities, so we sought assistance to fulfill a mandate from the Ministry of Children and Family Development. After hearing about the excellent work Amplify had done for another non-profits, we determined they were well-suited to meet our needs. From the very beginning, Amplify demonstrated their capability. They worked closely with us, offering patient, collaborative guidance and professionalism that effectively addressed the needs of our clients, our organization, and the Ministry—no small feat. Clients who participated in sessions led by Aleece shared that they felt safe to express their stories and truly listened to, which was invaluable feedback. Amplify operates with heart and compassion, grounded in best practices, integrity, and professionalism. I would highly recommend their services to any organization.” - Chantelle Morvay-Adams, Board Chair of ADHD Advocacy Society of BC.
Thank you to the ADHD Advocacy Society of BC for the opportunity to work in collaboration with you. We can’t wait to see you blaze a trail for so many people in British Columbia whose lives will indeed be better because of the supports and services you’re advocating for.
