Behind the Scenes: Creative Briefs

Behind the scenes at Amplify, after a kickoff meeting with a client, our team gets to work developing a creative brief. Although you as a client may see things as calm and hopefully seamless on the surface, in the background the logistics are similar to a busy train station with schedules, operational details confirmed, determining capacity, timelines, and expertise needed, and the outline of a step by step process to ensure we can be as efficient as possible, keeping projects on time and on budget.

Creative briefs serve as a guide for our team by clearly outlining the objectives, which is most important to us because, if we don’t understand that or lack clarity, we actually don’t know where we’re going. It’s key to know what clients are trying to achieve and how communications play a role in helping you get there. Our Project Manager, Kimberlee, as she likes to put it, “hovers” over projects to ensure everyone (our team and our clients) is moving in the right direction, meeting their agreed-upon timelines, and pivoting when required.


We also use project management software where these briefs are shared with the entire team, a full work-forward schedule is created with the tasks that need to be accomplished, and a workback schedule is created showing when those tasks need to be completed to meet deadlines.


Ensuring our entire team is on the right train, on the right track, headed to the agreed-upon destination makes for busy, yet productive and fulfilling work as we seek to amplify our clients’ impact.
